Trivareus Apollo Tollier Jr.

My name is Trivareus Apollo Tollier Jr. and I believe that I could be very beneficial and really help think of new ways to get people involved in the activities that we would have. I do have experience in this type of position because I would set up activities for Key Club. I assure you if you consider me for this position I will give it my all and definitely make an impact that counts.

Lily Huang

Hello, my name is Lily Huang. I'm currently a first year student and I'm running to be a floor representative. I would make a good candidate because I have a strong interest in making the community a safe and enjoyable place for all students and residents. I have past leadership experiences, from being captain for my sports club for two years, to being the class representative as president for my classroom. I want to be part of the change and provide students with endless opportunities and everything they need. I'm also very friendly and open minded, so I would love to hear the different perspectives of everyone and form one tight community. Thank you!

Aubriana Garcia

Hello! My name is Aubriana Garcia, I'm a first year here, and I'm very excited to be applying for this position! I feel I'm an excellent fit for the Director of Activities position for the main reason that I have extensive experience in possessing leadership roles and acting on them with the upmost care, motivation and responsibility. Throughout high school I was class president, team captain for cheerleading two out of four years, and other roles in numerous clubs. Roles I obtained over the last few years really taught me how to make executive decisions while keeping the interest of a certain group as my top and only concern, whether they be my classmates or teammates. I strengthened my pre-learned skill set of socializing with both my peers and faculty, maintained very good relationships with everyone, and handled those relationships with the upmost respect and care. I learned how to both plan, advertise and carry out events very efficiently, as we did with the many fundraisers, drives,  dances and community events we held. And with all of the above happening, I was able to/still can find a good balance between those extra curricular activities and my schooling in order to stay focused and on track. And it made for the best years of my life, hence why I'd love to continue doing activities similar to those. Please excuse the length of my bio, as I tried to offer as much information as possible for your consideration. Thank you very much and have a nice evening!

Madley Martinez

I am currently a freshman as an undeclared major but planning to change to Biology with an emphasis on Human Biology. I am running for the Residence Hall Floor Representative. Running for this position and becoming part of the community council will allow me to represent my fellow peers, communicate with other individuals and come to an agreement as to how we as students can improve our community at UC Merced. Although I am not completely sure what exactly my tasks will be as a hall representative, I decided to run for this position as a way to interact with other individuals while at same time having the opportunity to represent my fellow peers. Not only will I learn from this experience by interacting with other individuals but I will also have the opportunity to learn essential skills that will go beyond this opportunity. Furthermore, I am new to the idea of being part of a council that represents the community and therefore feel that I will serve better as a hall representative. I would greatly participate in making our community a better one. I will accomplish this by not only by being a member of the community council but also by going outside of my comfort level and communicating with my peers, getting feedback from them, communicating to the council, speaking up and overall being a representative of my peers. I feel that I will be a great asset to the community council as a hall representative for my leadership skills. I have the skills necessary to accomplish my task as a hall residence representative but I will also learn new skills to improve as a hall residence representative and individual. Lastly, I am a positive individual who is looking to influence and be influence by individuals who I will be interacting and working with to create a better community by working as a team. I am one who persists to complete a task and will put all of my effort into it doing so as well being a helping hand to whoever and whenever an individual is in the need of. I am striving for a great community by putting all of my effort into doing so, helping my peers by working as a team, speaking up in order to represent my fellow peers as a hall residence representative as being part of the community council.

Nicholas Rodriguez

For the Position of RHA Representative (Heritage Apartments)

I am running for RHA Representative for the Heritage Apartments, with the intent to represent the best interests of the UC Merced students that reside in the Heritage Apartments. I plan to personally open myself to concerns, comments, or questions that the Heritage Apartment residents may have, in order to have a direct involvement with the residents and there wants and or needs. When I am at RHA meetings I will have direct concerns, comments, and or questions to report to the RHA Executive Board.

I know that I have an adequate background to represent the residents of the Heritage Apartments. As a second year I have previously served the Valley Terrace Community Council first as a general member. As a general member I helped in planning events for the Valley Terraces and had involvement in executing the events, making sure that they ran smoothly and no glaring issues were present. Later on I became a RHA representative for the Valley Terraces, reporting concerns that the community council noticed and most importantly any concerns that the residents of the Valley Terraces had. Within RHA itself I was a part of the RHA Amenities council, addressing possible recreational needs that the residents needed whether it be for the various kitchens throughout the residence halls or objects that were needed for the rec rooms in Half Dome and the Den located in the center of the Valley Terraces. While I listed what was needed I also looked at the financial aspect of purchasing amenities. Monitoring what the cost would be and managing the amenities budget so that way there was no spending over the amount that amenities was given. I thank you for your consideration of me for the position of RHA representative on the behalf of the Heritage Apartments. I look forward to working with this year’s RHA in representing the needs and concerns of the UC Merced residents not just in the Heritage Apartments, but also all UC Merced on campus residents.

Lang Vang

Hello, my name is Lang Vang, and I am a second year Cognitive Science major. I am running as the Floor Rep for Kings Hall of Valley Terraces. A few reasons why I am running for this position is that I would like to give back to those in the community by voicing their opinions and concerns. I look forward to the opportunity that I will get when I meet others who share the same values as me and create new connections with those I meet along the way. I am currently attending the Bobcat Leadership Series to complete my first tier of being a Bobcat Leader and wish to go on to do more. As a Floor Rep, I would look out for the residents’ best interest and listen to what they have to say. I believe that communication is an important key in life and is a necessity to be a leader. I value other people’s interest and opinions; therefore, I consider peoples’ interest and opinions when making tough decisions or every-day decisions. I believe in taking responsibility and living a congruent life by supporting my words with actions. In tough times, my ability to be flexible allows me to overcome obstacles which allows me to learn from my mistakes and develop. There is are always room for development, and I hope becoming a Floor Rep can help me further develop myself as a leader and as a person.

Kate Bryan

I think I would make  a great floor rep in Half Dome for many reasons. For starters, I have four younger sisters and am used to taking conflicting opinions and coming up with a solution that works for everyone. Being the oldest of four, I've also developed some leadership skills over the years. Secondly, I was a student leader in my youth group for a year and in that time organized many events. Having this position helped to grow my skills as a leader and also taught me how to work with both students and a higher authority. I was in an advanced choir at my high school my junior and senior year. My senior year, I was awarded both MVP for that choir as well as the National High School Choral Award for the choir program overall. The MVP award was given by my peers while the National Award was given by my choir director. In a program of over 250 students, I considered this a huge honor. Both of these awards are based on contribution, dedication and leadership given to the choir program. For all of these reasons, I hope you can trust me to be your Half Dome 3rd floor Representative.

(Epi) Epiphaneia E. Juarez

My name is Epiphaneia E. Juarez and I am a first year at UC Merced. When I first moved in to Fresno the atmosphere gave me a different vibe compared to high school. I thought that the feeling originated from the sadness of missing my family and friends back home in LA; yet this wasn’t the case. This foreign feeling was being average. I wasn’t known as an International Baccalaureate or co-founder of The Vitamin Project anymore. I was starting at the bottom like everyone else.As a Floor/ Hall representative, I hope to meet new people and brand myself as a student at UC Merced. I wish to no longer see myself as a high school student by getting involved in my community. I am apt to always have some sort of responsibility, such as starting The Vitamin Project (where we distribute vitamins to indigenous groups in Guatemala: http://vita-indigenous.weebly.com/) and The Granada Hills Charter High School Peer Supporters Group (where we were professionally trained by counselors to provide counseling to other peers) from scratch. I saw how many indigenous groups in Guatemala suffer from malnutrition because of their location or simply due to financial reasons. Even though I was enrolled in the most rigorous program at school, the International Baccalaureate Program, I still managed to complete The Vitamin Project and keep up my grades. I took the same approach when I created The GHCHS Peer Supporters Group. I conquer obstacles by providing solutions. I overcome difficult situations, such as my high school not wanting students counseling other students. I convinced administrators into promoting my projects because of my success in relieving the stress in other students and the success in being able to physically distribute vitamins to indigenous groups in Guatemala. I plan to do the same as a Floor/Hall Representative. As a Floor/Hall Representative, I hope to make both a memorable and vibrant atmosphere for the residents. With more bonding and action packed activities, students won’t miss home as much. At the same time, the voice of students will be heard and reflected in the activities done for the residence.

Zuleyma Calderon

I know I am responsible for this position and ethusiastic and positive about it !! I have the interest and will demonstrate success in this area as well be an example for my peers .

Carlos Delgadillo

I am Carlos Delgadillo a freshman living here on campus in the Half Dome hall! I live on the second floor of Half Dome and already my roommates and I have planned and successfully had a barbeque! I want to run for the position of Director of Activities because no matter what someone is into I believe I am creative enough to create an activity that can accommodate all interest’s. I believe I am an excellent candidate for the Director of Activities because in high school I was a part of the Associated Student Body(ASB) and my job was to create activities for our lunch rallies before football and basketball games! I am always open to others ideas and collaborating with my fellow residents. I believe the Director of Activities main job is to create opportunities for everyone in his or her respective hall so that they can become united as one and create bonds that will last a life time, whether it comes at an event you find extremely interesting or something you just wanted to try out.
