Explore Housing Options
Housing for Spring 2019 will be available in both the Heritage Apartments and in the residence halls. Housing availability is not often known until January so housing options may be limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Graduate Students: Heritage Apartments
Housing rates are charges per-student based on the number of occupants in a bedroom.
We would suggest discussing with the Office of Financial Aid about any impacts living in the residence halls vs. Heritage apartments may have on your award package.
Apply for Housing
The application for Spring 2019 housing will open on Thursday, November 1st at 9:00 AM. The deadline to apply is Friday, January 11th at 11:59 pm, however we will still accept applications after that date as space is available. During the application process, you will indicate your room preferences and roommate matching criteria.

Room & Roommate Selection
We will likely not know what rooms will be available until early January. As such, room selection will not be available for spring applicants. We will use your room preferences to match based on availability. If you have a documented need for an accommodation, please submit a housing accommodation request. While there is no roommate search tool, you may e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you know of a specific vacancy or have a special request.
Reservation Fee & Cancellation Fee
There is a $300 fee due at the time of application. If you are receiving financial aid to cover housing expenses, you may defer this fee until the spring payment deadline on January 16th. One you have signed the housing contract, you will be responsible for a $300 cancellation fee regardless of whether you paid or deferred the reservation fee.
Receive Housing Offer; Sign Contract & Pay Reservation Fee
Once you have completed the application, it will be reviewed within a few business days. If we are able to offer space for your preferred room type you will receive a housing office. If not, you will be placed on a waitlist.
If you receive a housing offer, you will need to sign the housig contrract and pay or defer your $300 reservation fee. You can complete these steps on the housing portal. The contract must be signed before you will receive a room assignment.
Receive Assignment and Move-in Details
Once you have signed your contract and paid/deferred your fee, your assignment, roommate and move-in details will be sent the week of January 14th. Assignments will be provided sooner when possible. Move-in for undergraduates will be on Saturday, January 19th (Heritage) and Sunday, January 20th (Campus) at 10:00 am. Graduate students will be able to move in to their apartments starting January 2nd.
If you no longer wish to live on campus you will need to submit a cancellation request on the housing portal. Once you have signed the housing contract, your cancellation will be subject to the $300 cancellation fee outlined in the contract. Contract cancellations prior to move-in are usually approved within 72 hours. Once the contract is executed and you have moved in, contract cancellations will only be approved when they meet the criteria specified in the contract.

Spring 2018 Move-In
You will arrive on campus via Lake Rd or Bellvue Rd. The campus address for your GPS is 5200. N Lake Rd., Merced, CA 95343. Please use caution as there is construction near the campus entrance.
Residents living in the on-campus resident halls can check in starting at 10:00 am on Sunday, January 20th. Please stop by the Valley Terraces housing office with your photo ID. Limited hand carts will be available.
Loading zones (20 min.) are available behind Half Dome, behind Calaveras Hall, and behind the Valley Terraces offices. Parking is not enforced on weekends in the Lake Lots directly across from Cathedral and Tenaya. Transportation and Parking Services had complete details on parking locations.
Residents in the Heritage Apartments will need to check in at their complex leasing office starting between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19th. Parking is only permitted in marked guest spaces during move-in day.
