About Housing Assignments

We understand some students may not receive the room type, location, or roommates that you had desired. While we know that this may be frustrating, we do want to share a little information about assignments and assignment changes.

  • There are a limited number of each type (single, double, triple, quad) of room available in each community. We are not able accommodate everyone’s top room preferences due to the availability of the room type and demand. We do our best to look at preferences of keeping your roommates together or keeping you in a desired room type but you may still be placed somewhere you did not preference.

  • At this time, most rooms have been assigned. In order to make a change that you request we need to find a vacant space or wait for a space to become open. We often are not able to accommodate requested changes simply because we don’t have rooms of a certain type or location open.

  • Our goal is to prioritize financial needs first then getting roommates placed together then other requests.  These changes also take a significant amount of time away from preparing campus for your arrival.

  • Students who indicated interest in and were accepted to a Living Learning Community were placed in that community even if the room types of the community did not match your preferences. In some cases we were able to place non-participating roommates in that community but in many cases we were not. If you no longer wish to participate in a Living Learning Community, please let us know. However, due to space limitations it is not guaranteed that we can find you an alternative space that matches your requests.

With the above in mind, please know that we will make an effort to accommodate your requested change. If we are able to make a change, we will let you know. Otherwise, plan for the room and roommates you have been assigned. Should there be an urgent need, we do offer a room change process starting the third week of school.

Thank you for understanding some of the challenges that go along with assigning 3,600 students to their desired locations.
