What to Bring
 

Greetings incoming residents! We are excited about your upcoming arrival to UC Merced Housing and Residence Education, and we want to help make your transition to college as smooth and comfortable as possible. To help ensure that you have what you need in your residence hall and make it feel like home, we have put together a list of what to bring and what to leave at home.

Parking for unloading is Bellevue Lot. Transportation and Parking Services will enforce parking policies on campus as usual

Move-In Volunteers Move-In

Parking for unloading is Bellevue Lot. Transportation and Parking Services will enforce parking policies on campus as usual.

Mandatory Volunteer Orientation is on Friday, August 23, 1pm to 2:00pm at COB2 Room 110.

Move-In carts will be available at Alpine Room. You will need some form of identification to check out the carts. Carts have to be returned to Alpine room within 90 minutes. We want to be sure that all families have access to the carts.

When: Thursday August 22

Time: 8am to 5pm

Check in Location: Alpine Room in the Summits Quad.

Continuing/Returning Students Move-In

When: Thursday August 22 and Friday August 23

Time: 8am to 5pm

Check in Location: Alpine Room in the Summits Quad.

Move-In carts will be available at Alpine Room. You will need some form of identification to check out the carts. Carts have to be returned to Alpine room within 90 minutes. We want to be sure that all families have access to the carts.

Parking and Unloading: For safety, please follow the direction for parking and unloading.

New First Year Students and New Transfer Students Move-In for Cathedral, Tenaya, Half Dome, Mariposa, Tuolumne, and Valley Terraces:

Parking and Unloading: For safety, please follow the direction for parking and unloading on the maps. Parking for Late Check in Bellevue Long Term Parking Lot only.

Official Check in Time: 8am to 3pm

Check in Location: Alpine Room.

Late Check in Time: 3pm to 5pm

Late Check-in Location for all residence halls: California Room/Valley Housing Office at 100 Terrace Center, 5400 N. Lake Road, Merced CA 95340. Phone: 209-228-4663. Valley Housing Office opens from 10am to 10pm.

New First Year Students and New Transfer Students Move-In for Glacier Point and Granite Pass:

When: Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24

Official Check in Time: 8am to 3pm

Check in Location: Glacier Point 155 and 160.

Late Check in Time: 3pm to 5pm

Late Check-in Location: California Room/Valley Housing Office at 100 Terrace Center, 5400 N. Lake Road, Merced CA 95340. Phone: 209-228-4663. Valley Housing Office opens from 10am to 10pm.

Important note for Glacier Point and Granite Pass students and families:

Glacier Point and Granite Pass residents showing up on Sunday will be unloading from Scholar Lot.

Please do not leave your vehicle past 6pm in the construction worker parking lot on Saturday. The gate will be closed and cars will not be able to get out.

It is critical for families and students to take note that no vehicle can be parked in between the buildings.

All vehicles can only park in the Bellevue Lot Long Term Parking.

Tips for Smooth Move-In

· Read your housing assignment email carefully.

· Move in during your assigned move in day and time.

· Download and print the Access Pass.

· It is expected to be hot. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and drink plenty of water.

· Talk to your roommates and suitemates regarding big items in the room such as TV, microwave and refrigerator, so that you are not over packed.

· Each community has access to a community kitchen with basic pots and pans, and cooking utensils.

· Have your student ID ready when you arrive to campus. If you have not yet gotten your student ID, you can submit a photo and have your ID ready when you arrive on campus.

Cancellation

If you are no longer planning to attend UC Merced or live on campus, you must cancel your housing application. You can cancel your application on the housing portal under Housing Cancellation.

Dining at the Pavilion: Take your family to a meal at the Pavilion.

We encourage the students to use their guest passes as means to bring them to the Pavilion. Take your family to a meal at the Pavilion.

Textbook Reservations will be open 9am-3pm

Mobile locations (Pop Up on Scholars and Granite Pass) will be open 10am- 3pm

Catcard Office:

Yablokoff Wallace Dining Center LakeView Room, 8am to 3pm

After 3pm, students can pick up their Catcards at the Valley Housing Office (opens 10am to 10pm daily)

Dining at the Pavilion: Take your family for an all you can eat meal at our dining hall!

Sunday and Saturday 7am-9pm

IT Help Desk:

There will be services that we will not be able to complete that same day. For example, to registering your Game Consoles, you will need to go to the registration page to submit that request. Students must register their device before asking for help:

Fall 2019 Move-In Information for Heritage Apartments

Undergraduate Students

Heritage apartments Move in for graduate students and families starts on August 1st, 2019.

Heritage apartments Move in for undergraduate students starts on Thursday, August 22nd.

Summer Housing students transition from Half Dome to Heritage Apartments starts August 12th (after finals). Residents have to move out of Half Dome by August 17th , 4:30pm.

Due to heavy traffic and construction, we ask residents and families to adhere to the assigned move in time stated in your housing assignment letter.

Heritage Apartment Complexes Rental Office for your check in:

Thursday, August 22nd and Friday, August 23rd (8:30 am - 5 pm)

Check in at the leasing office. Housing staff set up in the leasing office.

Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th (8:30 am – 5 pm)

Check in at the leasing office. Housing staff set up in the leasing office.

Parking at Heritage
 

For Move In before Thursday, August 22, please do not park in a numbered spot. You might be towed.

Starting Thursday August 22, please only use the spaces with cones, designated for Move In, and please do not park in these spaces permanently.

There are a limited number of assigned spaces available to UC Merced students. If you are in need of an assigned space, you can complete an application here.

Heritage Express Bus Pass Distribution
 

Residents taking Heritage Express Bus (R street entrance stop and Northwood Village stop) would need to have a Heritage Express Bus Pass to use the bus service. Please go to http://cattracks.ucmerced.edu/#map to check out the schedule.

UC Merced Housing contract students can pick up Heritage Express bus pass at the following time and location:

August 22nd to August 25th: at Rental Office from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

August 26th onwards or when you need a replacement: Transportation and Parking Services Office

TAPS is located in Facilities Services Building A, behind the Science and Engineering buildings, on the corner of Mineral King Road and Facilities Loop.

Office Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm (Closed for lunch, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Tips for a Smooth Move-In
 
  • Move in during your assigned move in day and time.

  • It is expected to be hot. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and drink plenty of water. 

  • Talk to your roommates and apartment mates, so that you are not over packed, particularly kitchen items. All apartments come with microwaves and full size fridge, living room furniture, desk and chair.

  • Know the leasing office address for check in and apartment number to help speed up the check-in process.

  • Have your student ID ready when you arrive to campus. If you have not yet gotten your student ID, you can submit a photo and have your ID ready when you arrive on campus.

  • Review the What to Bring list. Don't overpack, there is only so much space in your room. Talk to your roommates and those who share your apartment about what can be shared. 

Cancellation
 

If you are no longer planning to attend UC Merced or live on campus, you must cancel your housing application. You can cancel your application on the housing portal under Housing Cancellation.

New transfers: If you are no longer attending UC Merced, you must formally cancel your SIR or submit a withdraw to avoid fees.

Graduate Students and Families

Heritage apartments move in for graduate students and families starts on August 1st, 2019. Please be sure you have your ID and driver’s license/passport.

Due to heavy traffic and construction, we ask residents and families to adhere to the assigned move in time stated in your housing assignment letter.
