Fall 2020 Information

On June 12, UC Merced Interim Chancellor Nathan Brostrom sent an email stating that due to COVID-19, “For 2020-2021, our two-year residency requirement will be waived. Priority for campus housing this fall will go to incoming freshmen, housing-insecure students, foster and former foster youth and our students with an ADA accommodation request.”

For updated 2020-2021 housing rates and meal plan costs, please view this PDF. We encourage students to visit the On-Campus Housing FAQ for everything they need to know about living at UC Merced. For more information and deadlines, please visit housing.ucmerced.edu/apply.

Housing Application Process

Step 1: Apply for housing.

Submit a housing preference form (first-year students) via the Housing Portal.

Step 2: Review housing offer and sign contract.

Once a student has received their housing offer, they will need to sign the housing contract as soon as possible. This contract will secure their place in housing for the fall semester. Students will not receive an official assignment until their contract is signed. There is no housing fee due at the time a contract is signed.

However, students will have to complete a housing contract by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 25 to secure on-campus housing for fall 2020.

Due to COVID-19 precautions, students will be assigned to singles and doubles at this time. More information will be provided about how students will be assigned in residence halls. Please be sure to check your university email for these details.
